Reflections Past and Present

Some notes on my work:
This exhibition includes recent paintings from a working trip to Vietnam. Including a very small painting of two ladies tending rice in a paddy field in the Mekong delta. Also from this area there is a study of boats on the Mekong river in the early morning in greens and yellows. Every shade of green can be found in Vietnam.

In the north of the country there is the very wonderful Halong Bay with the amazing karst islands of limestone rising out of the water. I believe there are approximately 2000 of these out crops in Halong Bay.

Sailing in the bay are the traditional junks used both by tourists and local trades people. I find the rough cotton sails which are dipped in vegetable dye, giving them the colour of ochre / orange / particularly inspiring.

My French paintings are of places I love, and where I live, giving me life long inspiration...
