Some notes on my work: In the north of the country there is the very wonderful Halong Bay with the amazing karst islands of limestone rising out of the water. I believe there are approximately 2000 of these out crops in Halong Bay. Sailing in the bay are the traditional junks used both by tourists and local trades people. I find the rough cotton sails which are dipped in vegetable dye, giving them the colour of ochre / orange / particularly inspiring. My French paintings are of places I love, and where I live, giving me life long inspiration... William Foreman, September 2009 |
