Ali Jabbar
Ali
Jabbar was born in Iraq in 1963. Determined to make his name as a
professional artist, he committed eight years to the study; first in the
Institute of Fine Arts, then in the Academy of Fine Arts in Baghdad.
In 1992 Jabbar moved
to Denmark where he continued to practice as a painter and sculptor.
2002 was successfully marked by the artist's graduation from the Graphic
Design School in Copenhagen. Thereafter he started to make his living as
a designer, producing artist's catalogues, illustrations and a number of
independent projects. The most highly regarded of Jabbar's graphic
projects is a series of minimalist illustrations of public figures. The
images of the celebrities and famous politicians were reduced to shapes
and colours, but still remained recognisable.
Despite his artistic
demand Jabbar never neglected his academic aspirations. He was teaching
fine art and multimedia design in several of Copenhagen's high schools.
Moreover, twice a year he gave lectures on art in Oman University and
participated in numerous symposiums and conferences.
Ali Jabbar executed
fourteen public sculptures in Turkey, Iran, Bahrain, Oman, Lebanon, UAE
and Germany and participated in more than 85 exhibitions throughout his
career.
