			AUGUSTE RODIN Dance Movement D Bronze, 33 x 9.6 x 11 cm, originally conceived 1910-1911

Using an economy of means, Rodin has rendered a simple warming-up exercise. The figure pulls in her raised leg with both hands in order to flex her knee. The exercise is not part of a dance but preparatory to it. In making his "snapshot in clay" from which this plaster was molded, Rodin created a compact form with most of its mass and complexity on the top of the figure. |
